Blanking out inactive parts
In a seismic volume, there can be redundant or inactive seismic samples above the mudline or around the margins. When examining a seismic volume, you can blank out these inactive samples to have a better focus on seismic attribute variation across the volume. To do this use the Inactive Parts form (prepare > Seismic > Tools).
- Open the Inactive Parts form (prepare > Seismic > Tools).
- Select a seismic volume from the Seismic drop-down list.
-
From the Property drop-down list, select the seismic attribute you want to use to blank out.
-
Select the number of samples. This tool allows you to compare successive seismic samples in a neighborhood along a trace (according to the selected number of samples). If all neighboring samples are equal, then the central seismic sample will be nullified in the output seismic attribute.
-
In Property name, select a name or enter a new name for the property to be created.
- Click OK or Apply to create the property. The newly created property is placed in the Properties folder under the seismic volume you selected on the form.
The tool uses the Property Calculator to extract the property information. This offers a wide range of property extraction methods. The property expression used in the Property Calculator is displayed at the bottom of the form.
